Ants are very social insects, which is why they form massive colonies. The trouble comes when these ants decide to form their colonies on your property or worse, head indoors in search of food and water. Homes in Kansas City, Topeka and across Kansas are susceptible to ant infestations especially during the spring and summer when the temperatures are warm and homes are more open.
Flies, rodents and other critters were not meant to dwell in your home or share space with your family. And while they may have found all they need for their survival inside your house - food, water and shelter - this does not mean that they are welcome. The best way to prevent and avoid pest infestations is to make sure that they are not allowed inside in the first place. We know that homeowners do not intentionally invite pests into the home but there are many ways that homeowners are unknowingly allowing pests to enter. The biggest threat...a home that is not properly sealed.
The sound of crickets. It may be soothing to fall asleep to at night as long as they are outside of the home and not chirping away inside. Crickets including the common house cricket are found throughout Kansas including Topeka and Kansas City. They become an issue for some homeowners when they find a way to gain access into the home. House crickets are not a dangerous pest but they can certainly become a nuisance between the chirping at night and the potential for chewing up fabrics.
While the summer is coming to a quick end, it does not mean that you or your pets are in the clear when it comes to pests such as fleas and ticks. So even as the heat waves subside, the temperatures are going to remain comfortable for fleas and ticks for quite some time. Before you risk the chances of a home flea infestation or tick bites, make sure you learn these tips to prevent the blood thirsty pests that love our pets as well as us.
