TOPEKA, Kanas. (WIBW) – If you are what you eat, than two managers at a local pest control company will be turning into mealworms!

Schendel Pest Service Managers Mark Garrett and Carl Turner went head to head in a mealworm eating contest Monday morning in support of the United Way of Greater Topeka.

The two lucky mangers had 30 seconds to devour the most mealworms in the contest. They won the honor to compete by a jury of their peers, who donated to the person they wanted to see eat the crawling critters

Carl Turner ended up choking down the most mealworms, which happened to be cooked in a “special sauce” by company president Brent Boles. Turner won a $150 gift certificate to a local restaurant for his efforts.

Schendel’s 2012 United Way campaigned has raised more than $5,000.
