Firebrats are small insects, generally 1/4 to 1/2 an inch in length, which resemble silverfish. Firebrats are found throughout the world and normally live outdoors under rocks, leaf litter and debris, but occasionally move indoors where they are considered a pest. If indoors, they prefer warm and humid areas and can often be found near boilers and furnaces. Firebrats feed on a variety of foods and products high in protein, sugars and starches such as flour, cereal, pet food and book bindings. Like silverfish, firebrats are primarily active at night, hiding out during the daytime hours.
Although these pests do not cause major damage throughout your home like termites are apt to do, nor are they known carriers of any diseases; they can contaminate food, stain clothing and damage paper goods, wallpaper, leather and books.
Firebrats may be difficult to control. That's why our service includes both the necessary products and follow up visits for one fee. Our treatment methods consist of the following:
Initial Service - Detailed inspection of the interior and exterior of your home, then a targeted treatment of all areas where activity is present. Each Initial Service includes the application of seven exclusive Pest Guard steps, designed to rid your home of unwanted pests and keep them away.
Follow Up - Quarterly interior/exterior or exterior-only services will be scheduled as part of our annual Integrated Pest Management program. All Schendel Premium Care customers enjoy the benefit of our PestZero Guarantee. If pests return in between visits, Schendel returns for free.
Due to firebrat biology, complexity of treatment and the time required, firebrats are generally not a pest many home or business owners have success in eradicating on their own. You must beware when purchasing pesticides and other products online or in home improvement stores, as many are not effective. Pesticides can be harmful to people and pets if they are misused or mixed improperly.
Schendel is 100% committed to helping you ASAP. In most cases, we can respond the same or very next day.

"I just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate the courtesy always displayed when Derrick visits our office and showroom. He is polite and friendly and does his job efficiently. Today he even asked if he might assist us in tuning in our staticy radio we have at our front door. It took him less than a minute to see that we had wires miswired and corrected it. It was a small effort but greatly appreciated. He is a wonderful asset to your staff."
