What are moles?

Moles, while considered rodents are actually insectivores. They are small creatures with long narrow snouts, tiny eyes, rounded bodies and powerful front claws that are ideal for digging and tunneling. In fact, moles have the ability to tunnel up to 100 feet each day and do so by lying on their side and pushing up to make a raised surface tunnel.

Why do I have them?

Moles prefer soft, most soil and their main food source is earthworms. They will also eat millipedes, centipedes and other soil-dwelling organisms frequently found in lawns and yards throughout our service areas.

Are they dangerous?

Moles are not a health risk to humans and pets but are considered a nuisance pest based on the fact that their digging and tunneling often causes significant and expensive damage to landscaping.

How do you get rid of moles?

Moles are a difficult pest to deter and that is why our mole solutions program includes a thorough inspection and highly effective control measures, as well as active monitoring.

Can I do it myself?

Due to the complexity of treatment and the time commitment required, moles are generally not a pest many people have success in eradicating on their own. Pesticides can be harmful to people and pets if they are misused or mixed improperly and if you treat too much you may kill earthworms and other beneficial creatures.

"I just wanted to let you know that Steve, our technician, went above his usual duties on our last service call. I noticed a large mass of one inch catepillers on our drive and showed them to Steve. He thought they were from our trees and took one back to the office for identification. He called me back to tell me they were a yellow band catepiller. Later that same day my neighbor called and told me that her pine trees were being eaten alive with the same catepillers. I looked at the pine tree near my drive and noticed that the tree was stripped of its needles and covered in the catepillers. My neighbor called a tree service, they sprayed the trees and said the trees should survive, but won't look the best for some time. Tell Steve thanks again for his help."
