Pestworld for Kids

With students headed back to school after the Christmas break, this is a good time to share some information about PestworldforKids.org.  PestworldforKids.org is a website developed for teachers and kids by the National Pest Management Association that contains lesson plans, educational games, and even science fair projects.

Lesson Plans

Pests provide a fascinating entry point into many curricular subjects, including biology, ecology, environment and health.  Use these lesson plans to teach insect anatomy, the social life of termite, the scientific inquiry process, and more.  The lessons emphasize content and process skills, and support standards from the National Science Teachers Association and the National Council of Teachers of English.  Lesson plans are available for students in grades K-8.

Educational Games

Mysterious and exciting, the world of pests challenges us to understand what attracts them to our homes and yards. Test your pest knowledge and skills with learning games for kids of all ages, and especially for those in third through fifth grade.

Science Fair Projects

Is your student looking for a science fair project? PestworldforKids.org has three downloadable science fair kits. They provide everything students need to get started thinking like a scientist, from forming a question to communicating results of the experiment.

If you are a teacher or parent, I encourage you to take a few minutes to visit www.pestworldforkids.com.  Many children find bugs fascinating, and will love looking at the pictures and learning new facts about these unique creatures.

Happy and Blessed New Year!
