Take Shelter From Termites Before Termites Take Your Shelter

Take Shelter From Termites Before Termites Take Your Shelter

5/3/2019

What is a shelter? If you were trapped on a desert island, a shelter would be a crude structure you would construct to protect yourself from the elements and from the creatures that roam the night. When we build permanent shelters to live in, we call them homes. And, as you can probably guess, our homes protect us from the weather and from the creatures that roam the night. But, when termites get into a home, they can do damage that allows the weather to get in and creatures of the night to invade. Here’s what you should know.

When termites target a home, they can cause a lot of problems. Most of the damage they do is direct. As they chew through the wood of your home, they destroy that wood. That is enough reason to not want these wood-eating insects around. But termites also cause secondary damage. Wood that has been weakened by termites can cause other structural timbers to become warped. This can lead to gaps, and gaps let rainwater and pests into your home. So, on top of having destructive insects inside your house, eating away at your equity, you can also have wood rot, mold, and a wide range of pest problems. Fortunately, termite damage is preventable with professional termite control.

How does termite control work?

At Schendel Pest Services, we have a 4-step program that is proven to be effective at detecting and eliminating termite threats. We call it S.T.E.P.

  • S.T.E.P. 1: It begins with a termite inspection performed by an experienced and highly trained professional.
  • S.T.E.P. 2: If you have a current infestation, it will be addressed with one of several termite control solutions.
  • S.T.E.P. 3: Once the termites in your home have been eliminated, we’ll turn our focus to the termites that might be foraging in your yard. For this, we install Trelona ATBS. This is a bait system that uses one of the most effective baits available in the industry.
  • S.T.E.P. 4: We will continue to monitor your bait stations and give you a yearly written update. When active termites are detected, they will be dealt with quickly.

Termite damage can be the death of a home. If you live in our extensive service area across the mid and southwest, let our team of termite experts help you protect your investment. After all, your home is so much more than a shelter. It’s where you make memories.
